The weather in the Uk can best be described as bloody horrible. It's extremely humid and "up north" we've been having thunder, lightning and rain of tropical storm proportions.
Speaking of storms.
Today is actually a good day. I've just taken delivery of quantum Leaps 'Stormdrum'. A much needed addition to my classical sound library.
It's re-inspired me, and I think it's what the haunting, magical music I've been writing for NB needs, it'll give it some real edge. Over 6gigs of awesome film quality drums. One things for sure - Jasmine the studio dog isn't gonna be fed today.
Now where's that rainmaker sound....

Boom! Schwing!, Thrwip!, Smack!
All in a days work, my dog lays asleep on the studio floor and doesn't even bat an eyelid anymore. The floor rumbles and the walls shake with sounds of explosions, muskets and the sickening sound of steel into flesh. Now and again, my canine companion will look up at me with her sad eyes and sigh with an air of mild boredom and flop her head back down onto the laminate wood effect floor.
Actually, it was a melon. The flesh thing. It wasn't real.
I set about attacking the said mentioned watery pod with a large knife. I stand with earphones on, menacing the close-mic'd fruit and then stabbing, and slicing it as many different ways I can. The dog, Jasmine, looks on with a bit more interest. Red giblets of melon splatter across the floor and my companion cheerfully makes light work of the cleaning, although she's not sure what to make of it.
In between creating sound effects and gathering juicy source sounds with my trusty HHB Portadisc I write music.
Currently I'm still trying to establish some musical themes, I've thrown a couple of pieces of heavily classical music at the team and got some mixed reviews. On retrospect I definitely need to make the pieces darker, the tinkley stuff sounds, well, too much like Harry Potter or Edward Scissor Hands. I'm currently working on a "winning" theme for the third faction, It's not my Job to tell you what or who it's going to be, suffice to say it's gonna be ultra cool if it works out.
